Meeting 8/14 In attendance: Mrs. Johnson, Kaitlin Meiss, Lili Henderson, Lana Henderson, Emma Vitacco, and Rachel Walker Bookies/Teen Volunteer Appreciation/ Mockingjay release new date and time, August 23 from 10 P.M. to midnight. Harvard Pilgrim and a Sandwich patron have given Sandwich Public Library a $500 non-restrictive grant to use on teen programming. TAG members should definitely be apart of planning. Ideas were welcomed. One idea was speaking with an author. Mrs. Johnson solicited input on fall/winter program ideas, particularly Teen Reads Week in October. This year’s theme is Books with Beat. A list of books was brainstormed from fiction to biologies to famous musicians. Programming brainstorming began. The most popular was a Beat Night, Band slam, or open mic night. Many SHS bands could be used. The YALSA website is a great source of ideas too. Encouraging new members, especially guys, is an ongoing effort. The next meetings were set for 3 P.M. on September 11, October 30, November 20, and December 18. On September 11, the meeting will focus on planning teen read week. Bring your ideas!

The Mystery begins and ends…a fun kick-off to summer and a launch of the potential of the TAG…here’s to more teen inspired and generated programs. Contact the library if you will not be attending. Some characters still need filling: Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Little Read Riding Hood…Sherlock Holmes. Pick a character and wear a costume/costume item (i.e., Sherlock’s famous hat or pipe) when you arrive. (We have xtras if you don’t have a clue.) Each participant receives a packet with clues, character insights and then we create the mystery…no one knows who got rid of that nasty old King Henry the VIII, yet.
